Hello
EFECers, how are you today? Hope that you’re in a healthy condition. Nowadays,
so many people have used air fryer for cooking. This machine prevents us from
cooking with many oils because it’s using heated air. Air fryer cooks the
outside of foods first, which creates a crispy brown coating and keeps the
inside soft, just like deep-fried foods. As the food cooks, a container below
the basket catches any grease that drops.
An air fryer can cook pretty much anything that you would normally fry in oil, such as chicken, french fries, doughnuts, vegetables, nuggets, and many more. This machine is very efficient and easy, but is it healthy for our us?
By most measures, air frying is healthier than frying in oil. It cuts calories by 70% to 80% and has a lot less fat. This cooking method might also cut down on some of the other harmful effects of oil frying. The reaction that happens when you fry potatoes or other starchy foods makes the chemical acrylamide, which research links to greater chances of getting cancer.
Although
air-fried foods may be healthier than deep-fried foods, it’s important to
remember that they are similar to fried or roasted food when cooking with oil. Many
studies have shown that eating fried foods may be associated with numerous
negative effects on health. For example, a study of 15,362 people found that
eating more fried foods was associated with a greater risk of heart failure.
While
research on the effects of air-fried food is explicitly limited, try to limit
your consumption of fried foods to help promote better health. Instead, opt for
healthier cooking methods to help avoid the negative effects of fried foods
such as boiling, steaming, or stewing.
While air fryers reduce the likelihood of acrylamide formation, other potentially harmful compounds could still form. Not only does air frying still run the risk of creating acrylamides, but polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic amines can result from all high-heat cooking with meat. These compounds have associations with cancer risk, according to the National Cancer Institute. Scientists need to do additional research to clarify exactly how air frying and these compounds correlate.
In conclusion, cooking with air fryer is healthier than cooking in frying oil. However, air fryer doesn’t guarantee a healthy diet, we still have to limit our fried food consumption. So, if you want to cook using air fryer, it’s fine as long as you don’t do it too often and still include other cooking methods. If you want to cook with oil, there are some options of healthier oil such as coconut oil, olive oil, canola oil, and vegetable oil.
